NPC srl in recent years has strongly specialized in the construction of electrodeionization plants intended for the production of ultra-pure water, substituting the most traditional finishing plants with ionic exchange resins in mixed bed. The advantages that the introduction of such plants brings are significant:

Thanks to the experience gained through the years, NPC srl is able to design and build individual or modular electrodeionification systems up to flow rates of several hundreds of mc/h, with 400 V power supplies (instead of the raditional 500V ones, that require a transformer) which can easily be installed in the same electrical control panel as the osmosis system. In order to meet specific customer requests, we can also offer dual voltage modules (instead of the raditional single voltage ones) able to withstand a larger electrical conductivity of the incoming water.
The type of process employed by our FEDI® modules (Fractional Electro-Deionization) is in fact an advanced electro-deionization, in which the impurities are removed in two separate and independent phases, applying different electric oltages in each phase. In the first stage we employ a lower current voltage, which is sufficient to remove the most strongly ionized chemical species (such as calcium, magnesium, sodium, sulfates, nitrates, chlorides, etc.). In the second stage, instead, we apply a higher current voltage in order to completely remove the remaining chemical species, the weakly ionized ones, such as boron and silica. By eliminating the ions which are usually associated with the scaling problem in the first phase (calcium and magnesium) through an initial slightly acidic flow, we can avoid them coming into contact with the strong cationic resins necessary for the removal of silica instead.
